Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Activity 2

The name of the game is: Horo hopu

The point of the game is: 1st team to a set amount of points or most points after set time wins.

Two rules: 6 players/people minimum (3 a side), players catch the poi in the Pawero (scoring zone) to score a point.

I have never played this game but one day i would love to try
it because since im Maori i would like to get to know  everything
including there games. I also think that it sounds very very fun.
I have seen my cousins played but never asked to play for some
reason. I have chosen this game because it caught my eye when
I was scrolling through the page and also because it looked like fun
a game.

Hi Jolie,

Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey team! It's great to see that you've been working through these activities. Well done!

This does sound like a fun game! I haven't played this one before either. You've done a good job of explaining it though! You should join in next time your cousins are playing it and tell us if it's fun to play.

Had you played any of the other games before. I have played Poi Rakau before and always enjoy it. It's about hand-eye coordination and I'm much better at that than I am at running!

I look forward to reading more of your blog over the summer.
Cheers,
Ruby.

Thank you for your comment, my favourite part about this work was telling everyone how to play and what the rules are, the reason why is because I would really like families to try this game. Have a great holiday :)
