Brad put a load of clothes into the washing machine. An hour later, he unloaded the damp clothes and put them into the dryer. Later, he unloaded the clothes and carried them upstairs in a basket. To his dismay, Brad noticed that the load of laundry just didn’t smell nearly as fresh as usual.

Learning how to use a compass.

Today we learnt how to use a compass, in maths our teacher taught us how to draw concentric circles. For me they were very easy to draw, my measurement for the circles were accurate. Next I would like to learn how to do square roots.

Round robin writing.

Today we did a round and robin. A round and robin is when  you write one part of a story then you give your story to someone else and then that person finishes it off. I was in a group with Kane and Sive, we got 1 minute to read a story then 5 minutes to write. I like how you could unleash more creativity with your writing. Sadly I was called to room 10 so I could not finish it of with Sive and Kane but I am impressed with how much they have written.  

Serving dinner at sports camp.

Last week students from Glen Innes School went to sports camp at Totara Springs in Matamata. While we were there I with 5 of my friends, got the chance to serve dinner to six schools.  It was really cool because I like how some of the kids used their manners. As you can see in the photo I was serving the jelly, on my right was Charm serving the ice-cream and on my left was Tuakana serving the vegies and gravy. I liked serving because when everyone finished their food we got to have all of the left overs, that means we got to have whatever was left. I got a lot of food and I loved it. 

Whaitere - the enchanted stingray

I read a story about Whaitere - the enchanted stingray and this is the work that I did.

The greatest storm.

I’m stuck at home, my parents left for work and I don’t know if their safe. Hurricane
Irma hit my hometown. Heavy rain cover the streets, destroyed land wrecked houses. Lucky mine is fine,When the tv goes out and the lights turn off I hear and see everything.

I see people worried about the destruction the hurricane could cause.

“Brrr it’s really cold in here.”

I feel the wind cover my body like a blanket, hiding in my room the lighting in front of my eyes gone within seconds. with nobody within my eyesight I knew it was gonna be a long night.

I have come up with a plan to escape my house and find some people. My plan is to go outside and face the hurricane, I am afraid that I will not make it but I am going to try. As I open the door I hear car sirens,screaming,thunder,wind and rain. I tried to walk but It felt like I was getting pulled  back because of the wind, I tried running but that didn’t work either I tried and I tried but it there was no success so I went back inside.

Since attempt one didn’t work I thought I would try another plan. Since I heard sirens and helicopters I thought I would to try to get their attention, I looked around the house and looked for a big flag and warm clothes. When I found the things i needed I went outside and I scream

“Hey please help me I’m alone !”

I waved the flag in the air and I did it like I was doing Flag semaphore,a helicopter flew past but it didn’t see me because of all of the fog and rain, I gave up and went inside.

At night I thought about what I could do to seek for help and find people who need help and when I thought about people I thought about my neighbours. So I went to sleep for a while and I got ready to try and make it to my neighbours house without being pulled back by the wind. I thought if I found the right time and waited for the storm to calm down a little bit then that would be the perfect time so I waited and waited, then the perfect time came I ran to my neighbours house and knocked on their door. They looked at me with relief, they let me in and we had a talk about getting help.

We eventually found a rescue team and made it out of the storm safe and sound.

Dancing with maddie.

Last week we did our last dance session with maddie. Maddie was our dance instructer from royal family and she was preparing us for our sports camp dance. She taught us a really cool dance and we all enjoyed it.

Protagonist.

Protagonist is our word of the day. We had to read a Maori myth and then write about the protagonist of the story.

Her name is Whaitere and she is a stingray in the story. Whaitere has a friendly personality and she is also very caring. Whaitere is from the black wings family who lives in a small bay. She loves helping her friends and family. At night she enjoys lurking around her bay. In my opinion she is a very normal stingray.

Dancing Queen.

Last week was Tongan Language week
and we held a concert for the Tongan group and rooms 7,8.
Mrs Tuakoi performed a Tongan dance and it was amazing.
Everyone was screaming and clapping, Mrs Tuakoi you're the dancing queen.

No acceleration for me.

Today we did a strand test and I am very very embarrassed. For this strand test I was hoping to get a 4B,4P or a 4A, but it didn't happen oh well I guess I need to learn more about strand and study hard if I want to get a 4. Although I have study a bit it's way better than a 2B or a 1A. Last strand I felt that it was very easy but it was alot harder this time and I will say, I was not concentrating well. I am very disappointed with my score but it happens.

Warriors

Today the some of the warriors came to Glen Innes school and talked to us about hydration,belonging,trivia and sleep. Zach and junior were the people who were talking to us and also the ambassador, Mya,Malae,Huntah and I won a prize. I got a ball, they played games with us like when one group and the buzzer "bang" and my group had the buzzer "Dab." It was really great and I had fun.

Tongan language week.

This week is Tongan language week this means people all over New Zealand will be learning new things about the Tongan culture, I learnt how to say 10 in Tongan this is how you spell it Hongofulu. At our school we are celebrating by decorating the foyer with Tongan decorations. Sometimes at our school we don't like being with other cultures.  To fix this I would like to get everyone who are in in rooms 7,8 and let them get to know each other so that they just don't judge kids by their culture.

The science expo.

Last week Friday we had a expo which was showing simple machines that were made by all of the other classes. But we could only make them out of pulleys and wheel and axles, I saw some really cool ones that were way better than mine some people had a Ferris wheel,well and a unicycle. I have not accelerated because the questions that I am getting are a little bit harder every time and I think it's because I don't know my times tables. But I am happy with my score because it is better than a 2 or a 1.  At the end of the year I would like to get to get a 4A to get a 4A I am going to concentrate more and learn my times tables,understand percentages and decimals.

I have accelerated because I have been making greater connections to the world and also to myself. Also I have  been concentrating more when I am reading. Also completing all of the vocab activity that I am getting. I need to learn more about  hyperbole. At the end of the year I want to get a 4A, to get a 4A I am going to learn more about Hyperbole and puns and personification.

In writing I have not accelerated but I have keep my scores in a 2 section. This because I haven’t edited my work after writing something like a explanation. I am still happy that I haven't got a 1B,1P or a 1A. I believe that I need to get a very very very good understanding of an explanation. I think I find put punctuation in the right place hard because I haven’t practise. Next term I need to really need to work on explanation writing and better choices of words. At the end of the year I would like to get a 4B I am going to get a 4B my editing my work,using a variety of sentences and planning.

I am actually pretty happy with my results.
