Hi Jolie,

Well done! This is an awesome pepeha. Have you written your pepeha before? It sounds like you may have!

Could you tell me a bit more about your ancestor? I would love to find out more about where you have come from.

Here is my pepeha:
Ko Maungawhau te maunga.
Ko Waitemata te awa.
Ko SS Rotorua te waka.
Ko Airihi toku iwi.
Ko Simpson toku hapu.
Ko Tamaki-makau-rau ahau.
Ko Ruby toku ingoa.

Cheers,
Ruby :)

Hola Jolie
Fantastic work!! Even though I don't understand it, it looks like you can write quiet a lot on a pepeha. Is this your first time doing a pepeha and if so how did you feel when writing it??? Until next time!!

Here is some information that my mum gave me.

The history of Toroa, chief of the Mata-tua canoe, and that of his younger brother, Puhi-Kai-Ariki, is so involved that it is necessary to combine both histories. The landing of the Mata-tua canoe at Whaka-tane River has already been recorded. Toroa and his people settled at the pa called Kapu-te-rangi, on a high terrace above the present township of Whaka-tane. This was originally built by Toi-Kai-rakau, and its history set out in an earlier chapter.

I also come from Opotiki which is up north.

Have a great holiday from Jolie :)

Greetings to your Jolie,

My name is Aletheia and I am a year 7 attending Tamaki Primary School and our school is also doing the summer learning journey programme. I really enjoy reading your pepeha but one thing I think you should put on is a English translation since some of us are not full Moari but you did a great job Jolie.
Can't wait to see more blog post about the summer learning journey.

Cheers,
Aletheia
