WALT: solve word problems by using the best strategy we know

I found this task very easy because I have done work like this. I learnt how to use a new strategy while doing problem sibiling.

Better try next time.

Yesterday In strand I got a 3A and I am happy because I really thought I was gonna get a 2A or 2B. Although in my last strand test I got a 4A because It was easy, but this test had some difficult questions that I have never seen before. I believe next year I can get a higher score and understand strand more.

I have decelerated because on the last test I got 98% and now I have 84%, Although I have improved throughout the year. When I first started doing stage six would get 25 or 32%. By the end of the year I would like to get to stage 8 because I want to make my parents proud.

Vocab: Time

In class we were asked to write words that were associated with time. My group and I came up with words and gave them to the teacher, there were also other kids involved, they came up with great ideas.

Learning how to use a compass.

Kia ora,

Today we learnt how to use a compass, in maths our teacher taught us how to draw concentric circles. For me they were very easy to draw, my measurement for the circles were accurate. Next I would like to learn how to do square roots.

What I have learnt this week T3W2.

This week we used inequality signs <, > and = to compare fractions.
On Monday we used materials. This was easy for me because I felt like it was easier to work with and faster as well.  Also because all we had to do was put them on top of each other and see which one was bigger.

On Tuesday we used a fraction chart. This was Easy for me because we used our to fingers to measure which fraction was bigger.

On Wednesday we worked without the above.  We learnt a strategy which was make the denominators the same The knowledge required to solve to these problems this way is knowing all of your time tables
This was easy for me because I learnt this really fast.

T2W9 - Wednesday

WALHT: Identify and draw a rhombus.
IMG_20170628_093324.jpg

Vocabulary
  • Diagonal,Bisect,parallel,polygon,specialised,right angles,opposite,arrows,parallelogram,degrees.
     A rhombus has
  • 2 sets of parallel lines but opposite sides.
  • It's a specialised 4 sided figure.
  • When the diagonal bisect each other they form a 90 degree angle.

I found this activity hard at the start. I found this lesson har because I was not familiar with it. I then started to understand and it then became easy. I accidently mixed up bisect with dissect. But my teacher said that it was okay.

Volume and capacity practise.

Today we practised volume and capacity. Sadly I did not do the poster and because of that I do not have a great understanding of volume and capacity. What was easy was the very first game. All it asked was how many unit cubes did it take to form the bottom layer. I will admit the last two games were hard so I had to guess every time. I did find this lesson very difficult and I do think I can learn volume and capacity I just need more practise.
