WALT: write a metaphor poem

Jolie Tawhara is a small parcel

That’s wrapped with colorful words

And decorated with pretty flowers.                                           

Jolie Tawhara is a faded ferrari

Speeding on the motorway

And playing music as loud as a lion’s roar

Jolie Tawhara is a sad and lonely whale

Staying up late thinking

While calling and crying for friends.

Jolie Tawhara is the wind that can change directions  

within a blink of and eye

Jolie Tawhara is a beautiful rose

Standing alone

surrounded by trees and nature.  

Jolie Tawhara is giant panda that looks innocent and cuddly

But loves to eat and is really sassy.

Today we were learning how to create a metaphor poem, by doing that we read poems that were created by other students and after that we learnt what to include when writing a metaphor poem.

Social media.

Social media is the best because there are so many things that I can do. I can do things like listen to music on spotify. Another one is messaging my friends, also if I see a post that I like, sad or nice then I can like that post. Another thing is watching videos that are cool and the last one is sharing stuff with my friends. I can play with the filters that snapchat has. There is also instagram that I can play on when I get bored.

The best pet to have - Cat

I think Cats are the best pet to have. there are many cats that you can

choose from. They can be kind towards people and they

can also be your best friend. I also know that they are helpful. There

fur is fluffy and soft when you touch it, Cats are also lazy and quiet.

There also gentle and caring.Cats  can be funny and make you laugh. So I believe that cats are best pet that you could ever own.

Round robin writing.

Kia Ora

Today we did a round and robin. A round and robin is when  you write one part of a story then you give your story to someone else and then that person finishes it off. I was in a group with Kane and Sive, we got 1 minute to read a story then 5 minutes to write. I like how you could unleash more creativity with your writing. Sadly I was called to room 10 so I could not finish it of with Sive and Kane but I am impressed with how much they have written.  

The greatest storm.

I’m stuck at home, my parents left for work and I don’t know if their safe. Hurricane
Irma hit my hometown. Heavy rain cover the streets, destroyed land wrecked houses. Lucky mine is fine,When the tv goes out and the lights turn off I hear and see everything.

I see people worried about the destruction the hurricane could cause.

“Brrr it’s really cold in here.”

I feel the wind cover my body like a blanket, hiding in my room the lighting in front of my eyes gone within seconds. with nobody within my eyesight I knew it was gonna be a long night.

I have come up with a plan to escape my house and find some people. My plan is to go outside and face the hurricane, I am afraid that I will not make it but I am going to try. As I open the door I hear car sirens,screaming,thunder,wind and rain. I tried to walk but It felt like I was getting pulled  back because of the wind, I tried running but that didn’t work either I tried and I tried but it there was no success so I went back inside.

Since attempt one didn’t work I thought I would try another plan. Since I heard sirens and helicopters I thought I would to try to get their attention, I looked around the house and looked for a big flag and warm clothes. When I found the things i needed I went outside and I scream

“Hey please help me I’m alone !”

I waved the flag in the air and I did it like I was doing Flag semaphore,a helicopter flew past but it didn’t see me because of all of the fog and rain, I gave up and went inside.

At night I thought about what I could do to seek for help and find people who need help and when I thought about people I thought about my neighbours. So I went to sleep for a while and I got ready to try and make it to my neighbours house without being pulled back by the wind. I thought if I found the right time and waited for the storm to calm down a little bit then that would be the perfect time so I waited and waited, then the perfect time came I ran to my neighbours house and knocked on their door. They looked at me with relief, they let me in and we had a talk about getting help.

We eventually found a rescue team and made it out of the storm safe and sound.

Tongan language week.

This week is Tongan language week this means people all over New Zealand will be learning new things about the Tongan culture, I learnt how to say 10 in Tongan this is how you spell it Hongofulu. At our school we are celebrating by decorating the foyer with Tongan decorations. Sometimes at our school we don't like being with other cultures.  To fix this I would like to get everyone who are in in rooms 7,8 and let them get to know each other so that they just don't judge kids by their culture.

Reflection on sewing at tech.

At tech we were put into sewing. We made a tote bag.

Materials needed are.
Coloured fabric (Optional)
pencil
measuring tape
scissors
sewing kit or sewing machine

To make this we...

looked up a tote bag design, then we grabbed a piece of paper and measured the handle and the main part. After that we picked our fabric and put our measurements on it. When we did that we cut the fabric and then started sewing the parts so that we could get a tote bag. This is my tote bag that I made.

Newspaper art.

Materials

1. Newspaper
2. Thin and thick paint brushes
3. Vivid
4. White paint
5. Yellow paint
6. Pencil
7. Glue

Method

1. Think of a sports position
2. Practise drawing on a piece of paper
3. Grab newspaper and draw your design
4. Paint on top of drawing
5. Wait for it to dry
6. Outline your drawing
7. Grab the yellow paint and cover a little bit of the white paint
8. Outline your design with your vivid again
9. Tear the newspaper to get a jagged frame

10. Stick to any coloured piece of paper.

Soccer Skills

Soccer is a game played by everybody in the world. You play soccer on the grass or on concret. This morning Steve (soccer coach) came to teach us some skills. here are some skills.

Skills

• Use the inside of your foot
• Stop the ball with the bottom of your foot
• Turn around so that the other person doesn't get the ball
• Use your body to stop the ball (except for your hands)
• Pass to your teammates when you're stuck
• Use the outer part of your foot so that you can dodge the other player.
• Tackle the opponent (Soccer version)
• Dribble the ball.

I used the skill dribbling because I felt like it was the easiest one. But I think the hardest one would have to be passing it to your partner if you're stuck because the player would all up in your face and stuff.

The sport that I would compare this to, would have to be touch because I like playing touch and I like playing soccer. I like how they both involve running because I really love running. And I also like how both sports can be played in the sunshine.

Winter Learning day 3 Bonus activity.

In this picture I have drawn a skull of a moa, A baby Moa playing in its egg,Moas poo and A Moa itself.

I am so sorry if this is late I thought it was published but it said draft so thats why it has been posted today. I am hoping that it is not too late. But if it is then thats totally fine because I had fun drawing these.

Three things we could do to keep New Zealand clean and beautiful.

(1) Carry a bag with us and put our rubbish in the bag when we are finished.











(2) Put more rubbish bins around. But the ones with the flaps. Just to make sure that the rubbish dosent fly away.


(3) Make adds about putting rubbish in the bins or keeping it to themselves.

Winter Learning Journey Day 6 Bonus Activity.

For me  Haka #2 was the best because the actions were amazing.

I think Haka #3 was the second best because I loved their facials.

And Haka #1 was not that good (Im sorry) because the facials and actions were not on point.

Winter Learning Journey Day 6 Activity 2

1. At Matariki you can watch the Kapa Haka groups perform, Look at the seven stars and watch fireworks.

The very first thing you can do is watch the kapa haka groups sing and dance.

The second thing you can do is look at the seven stars through a telescope.

And the last thing you can do is watch the fireworks go into the sky.
